Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  I purchased a  package of articles that I'm supposed to be able to put my name on and submit to ezine publishers and webmasters.  Why won't you accept these?
A. The answers to this question are simple, yet complex.  First of all, you didn't write it.  Second, you cannot claim copyright.  Those are both violations of the guidelines posted here.  Many publishers look on this practice as thievery.  You are claiming authorship of content you did not write.  Therefore, any publisher who uses your article is giving you free advertising under false pretenses.  It reflects badly on you AND the publisher.

Q.  I thought rebranded content was the same as  ghostwritten content.
A.  A ghostwritten article is written according to certain specifics given to the writer by the person purchasing it.  Once finished, the purchaser owns EXCLUSIVE copyright to that article.  It cannot be used by anyone else, including the ghostwriter.  On the other hand, all purchasers of "rebrandable" content receive identical articles and cannot claim copyright for themselves.

Q.  What do you mean by " authorized agent"?
A.  An authorized agent would be someone with whom you have executed a contract or agreement to submit your articles for you.  This could be an employee or a distribution service.

Q.  I filled out your online form and I can't find a place to paste my article!
A.  Connectionteam.com, The Article Connection Update does not post the actual article.  We post the links to your article as it appears on YOUR web site.

Q.  Why do you only post the  links to my article?
A. The Article Connection portion of Connection Team is designed to serve 2 purposes:
1.  Provide Connection Team visitors with something of value (access to free content).
2.  Provide authors who submit their original material with exposure and  traffic to their web sites.
By posting only the links, all potential publishers must go to YOUR SITE in order to read your article.  This gives you  with targeted traffic for your site.

Q.  I have written lots of articles, but I don't have them on a web site.  Is there any other way to submit them to you?
A. Absolutely!  You may the use the services of a free autoresponder service.  Simply, place your articles in autoresponders and supply that email link to The Article Connection Update.

Q.  What is an  autoresponder?
A.  An autoresponder is an email service that generates an automatic response to an emailed request.  When your article is available by autoresponder, a reader or potential publisher can send a blank email to the autoresponder's address and receive an instant reply containing the requested information.  There are numerous autoresponders available for use.  Some of them are free and some have a monthly fee.  Many authors who post at the Article Connection, use the services of Sendfree.com .  Sendfree allows its users to set up unlimited free autoresponders.  They also offer a paid version, which allows follow-up messages.

Q.  What is a  resource box?
A.  A resource box is a 4 to 6 line addendum at the bottom of your article.  It is separate from the content of your article.  Here's an example:
**Article by: Cathy Fothergill, Copyright 2003. First published in Article Connection Update, 2/24/03. Do you write articles? Great! Webmasters and ezine publishers are just dying to hear what you have to say. Get on over to: http://www.connectionteam.com and start submitting.**
If you are just starting with content submissions, I suggest you review the resource boxes on articles written by many different authors.  Use them as a guide as you develop your own.

Q. Why do I have to supply a  link to the  specific page containing my article?  Why can't I just supply my home page link?
A. This requirement was developed for the convenience of the publisher.  Part of the goal of the Article Connection is to provide content with ease.  As a publisher, I do not like to have to hunt through a web site in order to find an article I might like to use.   The harder it is for a publisher to track down your content, the less likely it is to be used.

Q. I've placed my articles in  PDF format.  Why won't you post PDF links?
A. Many authors have chosen to make their articles available in PDF to help guard against plagiarism.  I am sympathetic to this, yet the publishers who legitimately want to use your content are not able to copy and paste from this format.  One of the goals of the Article Connection is to give publishers easy access to content.  If an article cannot be copied easily, many publishers will not take the time to ask for it in another form.  If you are that concerned about plagiarism, perhaps you need to reconsider your decision to supply your articles as "free content".  After all, they can be stolen from an ezine or another publisher's web site just as easily.

Q. My article is in a Word file that anyone can  download with ease.  Why won't you allow downloads?
A. Although I realize that YOU are honest and ethical, many are not.  I will not jeopardize my computer or those of my subscribers and visitors by exposing them to the  hazards of a possible malicious download.

Q. My web site  asks for the name and email address of my visitors.  You say this means you will not post my articles.  Don't I have the right to ask for this?
A. Of course you do.  However, when publishers go to your site, they don't yet know enough about you to feel comfortable sharing their personal information with you.

Q. I place  advertising within the body of my articles as they appear on my web site.  Why won't you post them to the Article Connection?
A. A publisher who would like to use your article will have to copy and paste your article in sections (removing the ads), or copy the whole article and then delete the ads.  This just makes more work for publishers.

Q. Why does my listing only stay on the Connectionteam web site for  30 days?

A. Submitting articles has become a very popular method of promotion.  As a result, many articles are seen numerous times in the course of just a few weeks.  The 30 day time limit helps keep the articles fresh.  Connectionteam's  visitors can be assured that any content they choose to use will be as recent as possible.

Q. All my articles give author credit to the  name of my business.  Although I write the articles, I do not use my personal name.  Why won't you post my articles?

A.  Unfortunately, there are those who attempt to claim the content of self-replicating or affilaite sites as their own.  The potential publisher must take the time to verify that the person submitting the content actually has the right to do so.  The point of the Article Connection service is to help the publisher save time.  It is not to add more research time to an already busy schedule.
